2. Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data We Collect

We collect the following data when you use the Service:

  • Account data: your email address, name, a unique identifier assigned by Firebase Authentication, and whether your email address has been verified.
  • Dream content: the description, title, type, quality, mood, day, and source you write or record for each dream.
  • Voice recordings: if you record a dream by voice, the audio is sent to our transcription provider to be converted to text and is then deleted. We do not keep a copy of the audio file.
  • AI-generated content: written interpretations, chat replies, and generated images produced from your dream content by our AI provider. Generated images are stored in our cloud storage; interpretation and chat text are stored in our database.
  • Chat messages: messages you send to the in-app chat feature, and the AI's replies.
  • Purchase and subscription data: your subscription status, renewal date, trial status, purchasing country, and app store, provided to us by our subscription-management provider when you buy a subscription through the Apple App Store. We do not receive your raw payment details.
  • Usage and analytics data: how you use the Service, including, on the mobile app, sign-up, log-in, forgot-password, and switch-to-login events. Today, the sign-up, log-in, and switch-to-login events include your email address as part of the event data. On the Website, we collect standard page-view analytics only.
  • Crash and error data: automatic reports if the Service crashes or errors. On the mobile app, this report includes your Firebase user identifier.
  • Website local storage: a small amount of data the Website stores in your browser (your most recent dream analysis, a dream draft in progress, and your email sign-in state), so the page keeps working if you refresh it.

How We Use Your Personal Data

We use your Personal Data to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
  • create and manage your Account;
  • generate the dream interpretations, chat replies, and images you request;
  • process your subscription purchases;
  • respond to your support requests;
  • detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, fraud, and security incidents;
  • diagnose and fix crashes and errors; and
  • understand how the Service is used, so we can improve it.

Third-Party Service Providers

We share the data described above with the following processors, each bound by its own privacy policy:

  • OpenAI: your dream text, chat messages, voice recordings (for transcription only), and image-generation prompts, to produce interpretations, chat replies, transcriptions, and generated images. OpenAI also screens submitted content for policy violations on our behalf.
  • Firebase (a Google product): your sign-up and sign-in details, for authentication, and app/website usage events, for analytics.
  • Sentry: automatic crash and error reports, including your Firebase user identifier on the mobile app.
  • RevenueCat: your subscription and purchase status, keyed to your Firebase user identifier.
  • Pusher: your dream analysis results, generated images, chat messages, and billing/credit updates, delivered to your device in real time over a private channel assigned to you.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): your generated dream images (stored in Amazon S3) and your account, dream, subscription, and moderation data (stored in an Amazon RDS PostgreSQL database), both in the United States (us-east-1 region).

3. Retention of Your Personal Data

We keep your Personal Data for as long as your Account is active. The Service does not currently have a self-service way to delete your Account or your data. We retain your dream text, generated images, and account information until you ask us to delete them, as described in Section 5.

4. Transfer of Your Personal Data

Our servers and the processors listed in Section 2 operate in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your data is transferred to, and processed in, the United States. By using the Service, you agree to this transfer.

5. Deleting Your Personal Data

You can ask us to delete your Personal Data at any time by emailing hello@dreamographapp.com. Because deletion is not yet self-service, we process these requests by hand after verifying your identity. We may keep some information where the law requires it, or where we need it to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.

6. Disclosure of Your Personal Data

We may disclose your Personal Data if we are required to by law, such as in response to a subpoena or a court order; if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Dreamograph, our users, or the public; or in connection with a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition of all or part of our business, in which case your data may be one of the assets transferred.

7. Security of Your Personal Data

We take reasonable steps to protect your Personal Data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected Personal Data from a child under 13, we will delete it. Contact us at hello@dreamographapp.com if you believe this has happened.

9. Links to Other Websites

The Service may contain links to websites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party website, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
